On a mild Winter day…

It’s been unseasonably warm (well, if you can call 45 degrees warm) here in Chicago – so I decided to take advantage of the weather and finally get in front of the camera. So yay, here it is, the first ever Miss Renaissance outfit post!! I hope you enjoy it, even though I pretty much failed to smile in every single picture. I swear I’m not the Grinch, I usually love to smile & laugh randomly at everything.

  1. Isn’t this weather great? I’m from around Chicago too and have loved wearing jackets instead of coats for the past month and a half. Wear did you get those great boots?

  2. I’m from Tennessee, and it’s been incredibly mild here. Love the look, especially the boots. I like clothing that makes an artistic statement. I’m all about expression in music, art, writing, even fashion.

  3. I love the nail polish! And the bangles.. And oh.. those cute boots.. So perfect for you.. so perfect for a mild winter day! :)

  4. When I first looked at photon #1, the top one, I thought that your pants began at your hips and this must be some kind of “new bare midriff from the side angle look” because your top looks flesh-colored to me! lol Foxy over-all. Re: the weather, something is wrong when on Christmas ther is NO SNOW anywhere in the lower 48 states on the weather map. Why doesn’t the “weather channel” discuss this?
Kudos on being Freshly like those Pressed-against-skin-tight pants you style!

    • ‘NEW’ Mexico IS in the lower 48, and we have plentiful nice snow like we used to get “Back in the Day”. Our famous sunshine bathed Ski areas are popular ‘Again’. Ski in the morning, come down off the mountain and wear nice balmy outfits like these or even lighter, in the afternoon. :>)

  5. I like the outfit a lot…not super crazy about the jacket as the fabric doesn’t sit well with me in the photo anyway. Overall a B+! As for the photography, A+

  6. Of course those are kickass boots! I’ve been seeing a ton of bloggers do this as a DIY and I think it’s cool! Anyway, you look cozy and warm. I wish i had one of those neck things at my desk right now.

  7. I like the use of black with brown tones without it being awkward. That’s something I have some trouble with; I tend to unnecessarily adhere to the old rule of not mixing brown and black out of fear.

Who ever did your photography did a very nice job – all the details are shown and all the shots are not too pose-y. :)

  8. so very totally superficial to be obsessed with appearance. It doesn’t make you smarter nicer or better than anyone else. And it won’t last, so what will you be left with? So, yeah, cute but pointless and shallow.

  11. Great look! Oliver Peoples makes to most amazing sunglasses, I hope to be able to afford a pair someday!

  12. So cool! My daughter graced my nails for Christmas with a nice OPI silvery gray..Your polish looks a bit bourdeaux eggplant….Your nails pop! I could’ve used your shawl on a recent Easy Jet flight…the¨chilly ventilating air went straight to my right ear…ouch!! Happy New Year!!

  14. Great outfit, love the use of layering and texture. The boots are adorable and I truly love the giant, cowl neck scarf. The nubby little jacket works so well as a bit of a surprise that give the outfit a slightly funky edge.

I lived in Chicago for 8 years and hated every winter I spent there. Can’t believe it is only 45 degrees there now. You lucked out! Enjoy it while it lasts. I’m pretty sure Jan./Feb./March will bring -20 and lots o’ snow!

  15. Great pictures, and I love the fact that you refer to winter in Chicago (sort of like winter in NYC) i as “warm” when it is 45 degrees in the winter. It is all about perspective right? People in Hawaii would fall out of their chairs!

Ah well, enjoy it while you can, as I’m sure that cold Chi-town wind is on its way. Great blog post, and I look forward to reading more in the future. Stay warm!
