You’ve got my {Sweet}Heart!

Valentine's Rice Crispy Treats by Miss Renaissance Valentine's Rice Crispy Treats by Miss Renaissance Valentine's Rice Crispy Treats by Miss Renaissance Valentine's Rice Crispy Treats by Miss Renaissance

As promised, the last post for these next few weeks is a sweet Valentine’s Treat! I couldn’t bear leaving you all for vacation without at least one Valentine’s Recipe/DIY idea!! These rice crispy treats are just as simple to make as the regular ones. All you need in addition is some red food coloring & a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

To be exact, I used 2 tbsp of butter & melted it in a pot on medium heat. Then I added 2.5 cups of mini marshmallows and let the mixture melt. When melted, I added 3 drops of red food coloring and combined the mixture with a spatula. Then I added 4 cups of Rice Crispies and combined everything (really well!) with a wooden spoon. Last, I spread the mixture into a small baking dish (about 9 x9 inches), pushed in down evenly, and let it cool. Once cool, all you need to do is cut out the hearts with your cookie cutter – Voila! SO easy & cute, right? To amp things up even more, you could individually wrap these hearts in gift bags with a custom written Love Note! Now if that’s not sweet & lovely then I just don’t know….

On the Move…

Happy Monday, Lovelies! I’m fresh off the plane from Alt Summit & I can tell you with 100% certainty – GO! If you get the chance, it’s a must for all the bloggers/wanna-be-bloggers/design aficcionados/creatives out there. Not only did I have an absolute blast hanging out & meeting so many great people, I also learned a lot….about me, what I want from a creative life, how I want to grow my blog, and how to feel positive & strong about throwing my ideas & inspirations up on the web every day. If you follow my Instagram feed, you saw first hand how fun and inspiring these past few days have been, right?! It’s so nice to feel inspired and encouraged this early in the year. It puts me in a positive spot for the next 11 months to come.

On another note, just as I’m unpacking my bags from Alt Summit, I’m already re-packing them for another epic trip! I’m heading to Europe tomorrow & then on to Africa for a Safari adventure with my Mom. We’ll be exploring Botswana & Zambia for a few weeks! I’m packing all of my camera gear (tons of lenses to carry!), so hopefully the animal & landscape photography opportunities will be as amazing as I imagine them to be. I can’t wait to spy on Lions, Cheetahs, Elephants, Giraffes etc.!! The temps will hover around 90, so the Summer clothes are coming back out! There won’t be any way to regularly access the internet in Africa, so I’ll be taking a vacay from Miss Renaissance for just about 2.5 weeks – I hope you all understand. Sometimes, it’s just best to unplug and enjoy the experience without any thoughts of technology or true civilization, right?

Anyhoo, stay tuned for the last post in a few weeks coming at you tomorrow! (Hint: It’s a yummy Valentine’s Day Treat!)

Happy Friday & hello after an amazing 1st day spent at Alt Summit! This place is intense!! I’ve met so many incredibly creative & talented people in just one day…I can’t wait to see what the next few days have in store.

For me, the best part of the day was listening to one of my favorite photographers & all-around female idols, Jasmine Star, speak about creating your own brand. Jasmine’s a self-made dreamer who has achieved so much personally & creatively…a true inspiration to go after your dreams & dream BIG!

Have a wonderful weekend, Lovelies!

P.S.: I was “Mr Plum” for last night’s Clue-themed party. People got insanely creative with their costumes!!

It’s Alt Summit Time!!

Alt Summit 2013

Hey, hey Lovelies! Greetings from Salt Lake City. I flew in last night for the annual Altitude Design Summit. It’s my first time attending and I am PUMPED!! Tickets for this 4-day shinding sold out in minutes…I’m so glad I was at my computer at the right time to snag one.

For those of you who are sitting there puzzled as to what “Alt Summit” actually is, it’s a 4-day conference for the Design & Blogging Community set in Salt Lake City. It aims to bring together a community of exciting, creative thinkers and entrepreneurs (lat year’s panel speakers included Ben from Pinterest among many others.) It’s a place to be creative, make new friends, network and have fun with like-minded people. I’m super excited for this year’s speakers. And to top it all off, there’s a giant “Clue” themed costume party happening tonight….which color scheme do you think I’m going with??

I’ll check back in with you guys tomorrow….for now, I’m off to stuff my head full of new information & have a little fun, too!
