Urban Walls – Gimme Those Decals!

Do you guys remember the metallic polka dots on my bedroom wall featured this past Summer on The Everygirl (scroll through the pics to see it)? I painstakingly DIY-ed the dots out of stubbornly flimsy metallic contact paper…believe me, it wasn’t an easy task to cut them perfectly round! I SO wish I’d known about the Urban Walls Etsy shop then. I recently came across this shop & have been dreaming up all kinds of ideas for where to use them in my house. I’m thinking about the black triangles for a wall in my bathroom…

Last week, I had the incredible honor of having my home photographed for a “Home Tour” feature for The Everygirl. The Tour just went live yesterday, and it’s so fun & exciting to see all of the beautiful photos that Coach House Pictures took!!! You can see the whole range of pics & my thoughts on decorating, DIY, style, and everything in between here. I’d love your feedback & thoughts on decor!

Have a fabulous weekend, Lovelies!

Design Obsession {Gold Interior Accents}

When it comes to interior decor, I love so many things….modern & clean lines, whimsical/surprising pops of color, vintage wooden herringbone floors (one day…one day I will have them!!), but my latest obsession has gotten a real, deep hold of me. I’ve been coveting all of the gold/brass interior accents that have been popping up in design magazines and online interior sites lately. The way these metallic details add an element of elegance and luxe to a room is incredible!

Above are a few of my favorite images depicting the trend…what’s your favorite? Would you be open to adding some gold to your home’s interior?? While I absolutely LOVE the all-gold kitchen in the first image, I don’t think I could actually get myself to commit to so much bling in one room…I think I’ll start off small by hunting down the amazing gold-leafed Eames shell chair (last picture) first.

Spring Styling {The Bar Cart}

Cocktails, anyone? It’s Springtime…and that means cocktail time!! Outdoor patios are about to burst to life, and along with that, of course, comes warmer weather & a hope for deliciously refreshing drinks. But what about those days when we don’t feel like going out? And what about those at-home soirees where we want to impress our friends with a bespoke cocktail?!

Enter the bar cart. It’s become a sort of “it thing” in recent history. As soon as I found the perfect one for me, I jumped on the cart bandwagon. I think a well-styled bar cart adds an element of fun & sophistication to any kitchen or bar area, and it’s a great way to display your favorite glassware & pretty cocktail nicknacks. I love displaying my vintage cocktail glasses, favorite liquors, bitters (I love these locally made ones) and other colorful bar accessories this way. Oh, and I’ve made it a point to always keep a little bouquet of fresh flowers on my cart to make it even more special!

Here’s to Spring – Cheers!

{Makes me happy every time I see it :-}

During my time at Alt Summit back in January, I had the pleasure to meet the super creative (and Chicago based – woohoo!) team behind Vecco, a new company that lets you custom design & create your own rugs and carpets. What a fun idea, right? SO up my alley!

I got to try Vecco myself this week (thanks to Vecco’s team for hooking me up with a little rug kit!), and I can honestly tell you it’s super easy & fun! I love that the paint is non-toxic (i.e. you can use it inside the house while you create your carpet) and that you can use a vacuum to erase any potential mistakes before you spray on the sealant to permanently “set” your design. It’s virtually foolproof that way!

There are tons of cool stencil designs and colors to choose from, so no matter if you’re into florals, stripes, or more abstract patterns, there will most likely be something awesome for you. It took me almost no time to create my little mat….I’m already designing a bigger area rug in my head. How fun would this be as a family project or a DIY for a weekend afternoon with your friends?!

Have a great weekend – maybe even with a little down time for crafting/DIY-ing!
