Holiday Cocktailing // Gluehwein

The Holidays are SO here you guys!!!! I’m sure you’ve already figured out your menu for the celebratory days & nights…but what about some delicious, heart-warming, and more importantly extra festive libations?! May I suggest a steaming cup (or 3) of old-fashioned German Gluehwein (or Glogg/Mulled Wine as some of you may know it as) with a twist? Trust, this stuff is delicious and perfect for this time of year! I love serving it on New Year’s along with the usual champagne options.

Happy Holidays, Lovelies! Cheers!!

Lemon, Almond & Ricotta Tart

Lemon, Ricotta, Almonds…it’s a classic Italian combination, and a majorly delicious one at that!! This light, naturally gluten-free, and insanely delicious tart is one of my all-time favorites. It travels well, and stays moist and delicious for several days, so leftovers will be just as yummy as the first bite. This would make a wonderful Holiday Dessert – just look at it! It’s like a giant fluffy snowflake! Try it for one of your Holiday Parties (or even for Christmas) this year – everyone will love it.

Thanksgiving. The Holiday of being thankful major gluttony is almost upon us, people! This means, my mind immediately goes to “what’s for dessert?!?” While a great Pumpkin Pie is one of my all-time faves, I decided to switch things up just a little bit this year. And so I give you what may be the best Holiday cake I’ve ever made/eaten! This Bundt Cake is moist, rich, and it has all of the spiced pumpkin goodness we crave around this time of the year. Try it simply dusted with powdered sugar…or lightly drizzle the cooled cake with an easy glaze of equal parts skim milk & powdered sugar. Or go for both, like I did! This one will make everyone around your table happy & smiley. Promise.

Homemade Almond Joy

Just because Halloween has come and gone doesn’t mean my craving for chocolate candies is satisfied! More often than not, generic grocery store chocolate candy ends up disappointing me these days….the chocolate isn’t intense enough, the fillings are often way too sweet, and the flavor balance just could be so much better (yeah, I’m that kind of candy snob!) So, in an effort to remedy this issue, I decided to make my favorite store-bought candies myself..starting with Almond Joy.

The recipe is actually pretty simple. There aren’t a lot of ingredients, and the results are delicious I tell ya!! If you’re already an Almond Joy fan you’ll be blown away by these. I found that the key secrets are to toast the coconut to bring out all of the wonderful nutty flavors and to use salted almonds for a little extra depth and to offset the sweet coconut mixture. You can choose your favorite type of chocolate for dipping, I decided to go with semi-sweet because I prefer it over milk chocolate. Try it out and let me know what you think!! Nom nom…

Currently Baking {Nutella & Lemon Glazed Doughnuts}

Doughnuts are hot, HOT right now. And don’t even get me started on the new Cronut mania!! However, when all is said and done, nothing tastes better than a deliciously warm & fresh homemade doughnut (especially when Nutella is involved!)- in my humble opinion at least. These doughnuts are perfect – they do require a bit of work and patience, but trust me – you won’t be able to stop eating them (I ate 5 in one sitting here!!) Make these babies on a lazy Sunday morning for brunch…you’ll definitely find yourself in a cozy, food-coma induced nap situation soon thereafter.
