My Style // Bondi Whites

Wow, I just realized how long it’s been since I’ve done an outfit post (this was the last one)!! I guess I’ve enjoyed staying “behind the camera” for a bit, but the beautiful weather, fun fashion, and awesome street art here in Australia inspired me to get out there and have some fun in front of the lense. This all-white Manning Cartell look feels fresh and simple for Summer, and the cut-out details on the dress & lace panels on the top didn’t really need any extra color or super bold accessories to stand out. I topped off the look with my new favorite funky Karen Walker sunnies & my trusty Birkenstocks, of course!

Style // Easy Denim

Denim…the eternal neutral, queen of comfort and understated sex-appeal. Ripped, short, long, skinny, loose, cuffed, denim-on-denim, dressed up & down – I love it all!! Who doesn’t have their favorite pair of jeans, right?

Spending the last 7 weeks here in Sydney has given me a whole new appreciation for the denim trend. The casual beach vibe here always welcomes a good pair of loose & worn-in denim shorts or boyfriend jeans with sandals or a fun heel for evenings. I’ve spotted some super cool leather-trimmed denim overalls (yes, sorta like the kind we used to wear in middle school…remember this post?!) and even a few pairs of updated “Hammer-Pants” inspired denim by local Aussie brand Bassike (not sure if I can get behind that trend – yet, at least.)

My current favorite denim brand is R13. They’re an Italian newcomer whose jeans are perfectly cut and super high quality. Their skinny jeans never lose their shape and are so flattering & comfy! If you’re on the hunt for some new denim, definitely check them out!

Below are a few of my favorite Pinterest shots of how to rock the relaxed denim trend in a variety of ways. My favorite thing about these images is that they prove that no matter how you style it, denim never takes itself too seriously…and that’s what dressing every day should be about anyway, right?

Aussie Design // Amber Sceats

It’s no secret, I love jewelry!! Costume jewelry, vintage jewelry, diamond bling, anything goes as long as the design reads elegance, quality, and unique style. Since being here in Oz, I’ve discovered local jewelry designer Amber Sceats’ line of striking and luxe designs & I’ve fallen in love. Amber’s just released her 2nd collection, and the pieces are true modern statements that would look beautiful in many different settings – dressed up with an elegant dress or dressed down with casual denim and a simple T-shirt. I love her use of natural stones and the substantiality and weight of her metals is a nice change to the dainty and minimalist jewelry trends we’ve seen from so many designers in recent seasons. Amber’s price point is not too heavy on the wallet, which is an added bonus! Below are a few of my favorites from her current collection. See (& shop!) her full collection here.

Style Update // Lacey Triangles

I’d like to preface this post with an apology to the more well-endowed ladies out there. If you’re rocking anything larger than a c-cup, today’s topic may not be your cup of tea. Sorry, ladies!
Now for those of us with less volume in the chest area – let’s rejoice! The days of having to search for the perfect (uncomfortable) push-up, strapless, hidden-strapped, racer-backed bras are over! Enter the era of the pretty, no-underwire triangle lace bralet!! This trend already began last summer, but it’s definitely in full force now. The local ladies are rocking their visible, Lacey bra straps & side peeks proudly here in Oz, and come Summer, I’m sure the same will happen State-side. Yay to comfort & pretty lace details!

Design for Good // Karen Walker Visible

Amazing charity designer collab alert!! New Zealand designer Karen Walker has teamed up with the United Nation’s ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative – an organization that aims to promote fair and sustainable business between fashion brands and artisans in Africa – to create a super bold collection and lookbook. Karen Walker and the artisans of the Ethical Fashion Initiative worked together to produce pouches for this latest collection. The simple, screen-printed pouches will come with every pair of Karen Walker Eyewear from this range of sunglasses. In addition, more elaborate and embellished versions, also made by Kenyan artisan groups, will be available to buy separately. Another amazing (and my favorite) part of this campaign is that all of those involved in the creation process for the eyewear campaign – machinists, cutters, tailors, production managers and metal workers – were all part of the lookbook photoshoot (photos below)! How cool is that?!? The collection will be available starting February 10th – mark your calendars, Lovelies & let’s shop for good!
