Photography // Florals by Ashley Woodson Bailey

I love beautiful florals…so when I discovered floral designer/photographer Ashley Woodson Bailey’s amazing work I knew I had to share! Ashley calls flowers her “language” and has been in love with them since she was a child. She divides her work into “Light” and “Dark.” I personally really love the dark, moody arrangements…how great would one of those prints look hung over a fireplace or as a dramatic piece hung over a bed?!

Travel // Bali Adventures

Hello, Lovelies & welcome to a (hopefully awesome) new week! Today, I wanted to take a little look back at my Bali adventure earlier this month. I had such a great time relaxing, exploring Bali’s beautiful beaches, checking out the food markets, biking through mountains and rice fields, savoring the local food (and even taking a super fun Indonesian cooking class!), meeting the locals and just generally soaking up the inspiring and magical vibes!

If you’ve never considered traveling to Bali, it’s time to put it on your bucket list!! It’s such a beautiful and spiritual place, and the Balinese people are among the most gracious and friendly I’ve ever encountered. I took part in a wonderful yoga & health retreat for women during my time there, which was a great way to safely experience the island while traveling solo (and it took most of the organization & guess-work out of the trip.)

Kitchen Design // Furtif by Evercut

Sometimes, kitchen tools can be amazingly useful as well as super sexy! That is exactly the case with this beautiful range of chef knives by French company Tb Groupe. The line is called Furtif, and features dishwasher-safe, coated stainless steel blades that are built to last as well as look amazing in the kitchen! I mean, how cool is the streamlined matte black metal?!! These are definitely going on my wishlist!!

Art // Shinichi Maruyama

Hello, Lovelies! I’m back from Bali & settling back into my second home here in Sydney. Bali was beautiful & so relaxing…but more on that another day! Now, let’s talk about my current art obsession…I am completely enamored with Japanese artist Shichini Maruyama’s Water Sculptures series. The beautiful impermanence of his images is so striking! Just think, none of these moments will ever be recreated, which makes each shot so perfectly unique. The artist uses his hands to “create” each moment and freezes it in time with his camera. The effect is so calming and serene.

Here’s what Shichini says about his work:

” I am fascinated by the fragility and incompleteness that exists with all things beautiful. I throw water into the air, and in mid-flight it changes shape constantly, being pulled by gravity and bursting with surface tension. Each flight barely lasts more than a second. In each moment, the water becomes a beautiful figure which can be defined as a “part man-made, part natural” sculpture. I wanted to capture these beautiful impermanent water sculptures by photographing them in the exact moment, when the essence of their existence is pure.”

What a simple but powerful concept!!

Adventures // Bali Bound

Hello, Lovelies! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend – wherever you may be. As much as I’m loving my time here in Australia, it’s time to pack my bags for a bit & head into the open skies….or to Bali to be exact. I’m joining a week-long yoga & health retreat in Seminyak and I am pumped! There will be lots of exploring, moving, stretching, meditating, reflecting, and enjoying island life. It’s been about 3 years since my last trip to Bali, and I can’t wait to soak in a different side of the island this time around. Last time I mainly got to explore Ubud & its surrounding mountain areas….below are a few of my favorite photos I took on that trip!

I’ll be taking a little time-out from the blog for the week, I hope you can forgive me. I promise to be back with some fun stories when I return to Sydney!
