Fashion Week Australia Runway Report {Flannel}

Today was a blur of activity…a rainy Sydney morning made for an “interesting” time trying to catch a cab over to the shows. Once we arrived at Carriageworks, everything seemed delayed by at least 30 minutes….oh, the wonderful and crazy world of fashion!

My favorite show of the day was Flannel’s bohemian dream world. The color palette was almost entirely off-white, with amazingly intricate beading, embroidery and layering. The models wore almost not make-up, and the hair was kept to a minimum as well. While these types of flowy & natural looks may not be for everyone, I found the collection very refreshing and purely feminine after seeing so many structured & strongly colored/patterned pieces on the runways the past few seasons.

I was able to snag a spot in the photographer’s pit for this show, so I took advantage of the good view & recorded a little video of the show finale with my iPhone…I’ll make sure to post it as soon as it’s uploaded (long process….) For now, it’s off to sleep for me…gotta rise & shine early for more shows (and a little vintage shopping) tomorrow.

Fashion Week Fave {Sass & Bide}

“Fashion Month” is in its final throws in Paris as we speak. When I wasn’t traveling into the depths of Africa, I was quietly watching this Season’s shows from the comfort of my computer screen – and I can confidently say that Australian label Sass & Bide’s show during London Fashion Week is my absolute favorite!!

It’s no secret that I’m generally obsessed with Australian fashion…but come on – how amazing are these looks??! The clean lines, amazing fabrics, metallic weaving & embroidery and the unexpected pops of a fresh yellow are just so modern and luxe. The silhuettes are mostly relaxed yet feminine, and above all, they convey a feeling of freedom and ease – which is such a quintessential and beautiful thing about Australian Fashion. Founders & designers Sarah- Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton have created another incredible collection that I can’t wait to get my hands on!

New York Fashion Week Report {Catherine Malandrino}

{Come Spring, this cropped leather jacket is SO mine!}

{Now THIS is a stunning romper! The architectural lines and subtle fabric details were even more amazing in person!}

{Black & White with beautiful graphic details combine Catherine Malandrino’s French flair with her New York tough-girl vibe.}

{My love for blue-minty hues has no limits, so this rocker-chic studded leather vest is shooting to the top of my shopping list!}

Glam Sportswear is a perfect way to describe Catherine Malandrino’s Presentation at Fashion Week. The details, the fit, the stitching, the glamorous fabrics…everything was impeccable! I was truly blown away with this feminine, yet tough and opinionated range, it’s clear that Catherine’s girl is as Parisian chic as she is New York opinionated!

Her Spring 2013 line didn’t show a lot of crazy colors – mostly whites & blacks with the odd minty hue mixed in. The amazing details and intricate studding MORE than made up for the calm color palette though. These pieces feel so fresh and modern, they’ll be versatile and classic pieces for almost every occasion.

This concludes my Fashion Week Show/Presentation coverage for this year. It’s been such a blast to share my images and experiences with you. Thank you for reading, I’m already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Color Inspiration {Going for Classics}

For the second half of New York Fashion Week, I went with a classic combo of sexy, bright red & ritzy gold glitter! This combo proved to be a glamorous match to basically any Fall-inspired outfit. Essie’s “A-List” is the perfect shade of fiery red with subtle blue undertones, which makes it work with any skin tone.

New York Fashion Week Report {Mara Hoffman}

Flowy, feminine silhuettes. Expert pattern mixing. A fun explosion of colors. All of these elements are quintessential Mara Hoffman. I’ve been in love with this line for years…and seeing the Spring/Summer 2013 Runway Show in new York this year was a dream come true! The space was so insanely packed for Mara’s show, there was no chance of getting a prime seat or even squezzing into the Photog area…but that didn’t deter me from snapping away with my giant lense! It also isn’t deterring me from posting my own pictures (and not the cookie-cutter stock images we can all easily find on Style.com). I hope you get a sense of how beautiful & fun this show was. The Hawaiian Vibe was relaxed and I can’t wait for these pieces to become available next Spring for a fun beach vacation!!
