The Perfect Bondi Beach Outfit

It’s been a little over 2 weeks here in Bondi for me & I think I’ve figured out the local “uniform.” Now mind you, Bondi Beach is a Western Beach-side suburb of Sydney, so let’s forget all the big-city-formal & office-appropriate outfit stigmas for a moment. This neighborhood is chill, relaxed, all about the outdoors & the sun, and very much understated chic. That doesn’t mean people here get sloppy, oh no…every casual “accidentally” untucked tank & ripped piece of denim is carefully calculated. Heels are nowhere to be seen (thank goodness, some well-deserved rest for my feet!), and super tight dresses are definitely not a a focus. I’m really loving it!!

Below is my take on the perfect daytime (oh, who are we kidding…this will totally work for an evening drink in Bondi as well) outfit for my current ‘hood. All items are by local Aussie designers, except for the Birkenstocks – but trust me, those good old German sandals are having a MAJOR comeback here in Sydney!!The Perfect Bondi Beach Outfit

It’s officially really warm here in Chicago (majorly jumping for joy here!)….and what better way to celebrate than spending some time outdoors in a bright floral Spring ensemble?! After searching far & wide for the perfect floral “Suit”, I finally found this super bright & playful version at Aritzia. It’s easy to wear, fun, and has just the right amount of tailoring to make it appropriate for evenings when worn with a nice heel. What do you think? Are you into the floral-on-floral trend?

Denim Overalls {The Comeback}

With Jet-lag in full effect, I kept my outfit for Day 1 of Sydney Fashion Week comfortable and playful. Denim overalls have recently made a re-appearance in the world of fashion, and I couldn’t be happier about it! I used to love the trend back in Junior High…and it feels just as right these days as it did back then. Silly? Yes. Slightly ridiculous even? Maybe….but paired with a fun tee and my favorite metallic heels I felt ready to take on the runway shows & have fun. What’s your opinion of the denim overall renaissance? Yay or nay??

On the Move…

Happy Monday, Lovelies! I’m fresh off the plane from Alt Summit & I can tell you with 100% certainty – GO! If you get the chance, it’s a must for all the bloggers/wanna-be-bloggers/design aficcionados/creatives out there. Not only did I have an absolute blast hanging out & meeting so many great people, I also learned a lot….about me, what I want from a creative life, how I want to grow my blog, and how to feel positive & strong about throwing my ideas & inspirations up on the web every day. If you follow my Instagram feed, you saw first hand how fun and inspiring these past few days have been, right?! It’s so nice to feel inspired and encouraged this early in the year. It puts me in a positive spot for the next 11 months to come.

On another note, just as I’m unpacking my bags from Alt Summit, I’m already re-packing them for another epic trip! I’m heading to Europe tomorrow & then on to Africa for a Safari adventure with my Mom. We’ll be exploring Botswana & Zambia for a few weeks! I’m packing all of my camera gear (tons of lenses to carry!), so hopefully the animal & landscape photography opportunities will be as amazing as I imagine them to be. I can’t wait to spy on Lions, Cheetahs, Elephants, Giraffes etc.!! The temps will hover around 90, so the Summer clothes are coming back out! There won’t be any way to regularly access the internet in Africa, so I’ll be taking a vacay from Miss Renaissance for just about 2.5 weeks – I hope you all understand. Sometimes, it’s just best to unplug and enjoy the experience without any thoughts of technology or true civilization, right?

Anyhoo, stay tuned for the last post in a few weeks coming at you tomorrow! (Hint: It’s a yummy Valentine’s Day Treat!)

Hey hey, Lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. I spent a few days in Los Angeles last week…what a nice break from the absolutely FREEZING temps here in Chicago!!

On a little outing to the Pacific Design Center, I threw on my favorite casual jeans, a new floral blouse & my sexy new lace-up heels (they’re surprisingly comfortable!) There was just a bit of a chill in the air that evening, so a light coat was perfect just in case. The outfit combined a few patterns & textures – what do you think of this little mix & match action?
