Spring Style Crush by Miss Renaissance

Hello, Lovelies & welcome to March! I feel like Winter is sort of flying by this year….but now that March is officially here I can’t help but desperately wish for warmer weather to arrive right now!

Spring Styles have been all over the web and fashion magazines are beautifully displaying pastels, florals, and everything in between. For those of you lucky enough to be in warmer climates: I hope you’re already taking full advantage of Spring fashion arrivals!! For us Chicagoans it’s all but a daydream until about mid-May.

Speaking of daydreams….the outfit above is my perfect girly Spring 2013 ensemble. It all started with that amazing two-tone leather skirt, which just happens to perfectly combine two of my favorite colors. Pair that with a comfortable, light-knit sweater and a pair of wow-floral heels and I’m pretty much ready for anything. Spring Cocktails anyone?!

Denim, Ombre, 80’s Revival {It’s DIY Time}

Ohhhh…the Denim Vest. Icon of the 80’s. Painful Middle School Flashbacks. All that aside, I have to say – I’m ready to rock it, I’m ready to bring it back and make it a personal Spring/Summer Staple! Paired with a flowy maxi skirt and a luxe pair of flats, this vest will be almost covetable. I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect little (affordable) Denim Vest for several weeks now, and nothing popped up. So, I thought – why not make my own? I love DIY projects, and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. A quick trip to Zara for a simple denim jacket (on sale – score!), and the craft store for some fun pastel studs (they’re officially called “Brads” – how odd!) and a serious “Hole Poker” = Voila –  Denim Vest Nirvana! I hope you’re feeling at least a little inspired…what’s on your Spring DIY agenda??

Weekly Color Inspiration {Spring Pastels}

With Spring-ish weather in full swing (both NYC and Chicago will hover around the 60’s today!) and Easter fast approaching, I’m feeling & seeing pastel colors! If I were a pretty hand-painted Easter Egg, I’d like to be painted in a combo of these two colors, please.

Today is my last morning/afternoon in NYC….I’m off on a plane to California later today. I’m heading to the sunny San Diego area for a meditation retreat. 5 days of pure relaxation, silent contemplation, and soaking in the California sun await! I’m very excited to unplug for a little while…which means I’m also planning to unplug from blogging for a few days. Aw, don’t cry – I’ll be back (refreshed and ready to rock) on Monday, my Lovelies. Try not to miss me too much and have a fantastic weekend!

Hello, hello and Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was filled with picture snapping, relaxing with good friends & food, and a little shopping at Chicago’s monthly Dose Market. The weather was brutally cold and windy over the weekend, which left me longingly dreaming of Spring temperatures.  Many Spring fashion previews have been driven by one obvious trend – in your face & no holds-barred Neon. Don’t get me wrong, come Spring I will make sure to embrace neon colors in all their glory. However, Pastels shall not be overlooked as the “other” more subtly powerful Spring trend. With that in mind, I decided to rummage through my closet and put a few Pastel-inspired outfits together for your viewing pleasure. My personal favorite is #3…the light blue jeans are insanely comfortable and the J.Crew Suede wedges will take me all the way through Fall! What’s your take on Pastels for Spring?
