Thanksgiving. The Holiday of being thankful major gluttony is almost upon us, people! This means, my mind immediately goes to “what’s for dessert?!?” While a great Pumpkin Pie is one of my all-time faves, I decided to switch things up just a little bit this year. And so I give you what may be the best Holiday cake I’ve ever made/eaten! This Bundt Cake is moist, rich, and it has all of the spiced pumpkin goodness we crave around this time of the year. Try it simply dusted with powdered sugar…or lightly drizzle the cooled cake with an easy glaze of equal parts skim milk & powdered sugar. Or go for both, like I did! This one will make everyone around your table happy & smiley. Promise.

The French Macaron…such a delicious but fickle beast! They’re beautiful, highly addicting, but also hard to perfect at home. In my experience, depending on the weather (i.e. random levels of humidity), the quality of ingredients used, the type of food coloring added, and even depending on my mood that day, macarons can either turn out beautifully or fail miserably. I remember learning how to make these little suckers back in my pastry school days, and even seasoned French Chefs still mess these up every now and then.

This being said, I love a challenge, so I decided to try my luck at some gilded & pastel-colored macarons at home – Easter is almost upon us after all! I made several batches in different colors, and some turned out better than others, but overall I’m happy with the outcome – they look fun, glittery (everything is better with glitter), and they taste amazing!

As promised, the last post for these next few weeks is a sweet Valentine’s Treat! I couldn’t bear leaving you all for vacation without at least one Valentine’s Recipe/DIY idea!! These rice crispy treats are just as simple to make as the regular ones. All you need in addition is some red food coloring & a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

To be exact, I used 2 tbsp of butter & melted it in a pot on medium heat. Then I added 2.5 cups of mini marshmallows and let the mixture melt. When melted, I added 3 drops of red food coloring and combined the mixture with a spatula. Then I added 4 cups of Rice Crispies and combined everything (really well!) with a wooden spoon. Last, I spread the mixture into a small baking dish (about 9 x9 inches), pushed in down evenly, and let it cool. Once cool, all you need to do is cut out the hearts with your cookie cutter – Voila! SO easy & cute, right? To amp things up even more, you could individually wrap these hearts in gift bags with a custom written Love Note! Now if that’s not sweet & lovely then I just don’t know….

If you haven’t heard of Brazil’s famous sweet – the Brigadeiro – you’re in for a treat!! These little nuggets of heaven are amazing. Period. I’ve only had them in Brazil, but they’re now making an appearance State-side in NYC (and everywhere via the web) from My Sweet Brigadeiro. This sweet confection differs from a traditional truffle. It’s made with a mixture of sweetened condensed milk (giving it an extra creamy and milky dimension), butter, and cocoa powder, and is traditionally served at Brazilian Birthday Parties. The unusual flavors by My Sweet Brigadeiro look amazing…I may have to order a box for myself in the near future! Oh, and how cute would these be as a Valentine’s Gift?

A {Sweet} Ticket


Wow!! Talk about Chocolate Heaven!! As you can see, I’ve been having a blast with this little Choco-inspired photo shoot. Yesterday (and part of this morning) I transformed part of my house into a set – complete with props and accessories – and took way too many pictures of these yummy & decadent chocolate treats from The Ticket Kitchen.

Before I go any further, let me briefly preface this: I am an absolutely independent (The Ticket Kitchen knows nothing of my obsession…) fan of their innovative and delicious products! They neither pay me for this post nor do I get any kind of discounts with them. I simply feel that this Female-owned company deserves mad props for doing what they’re doing!

Anyhoo….with Valentine’s Day almost upon us, I decided to go ahead and give myself an excuse to order pretty much every Hot Coco Stick flavor they currently offer and inspire you all to maybe give it a try sometime, too. Their flavors run the gamut from simple & creamy French Milk Truffle, to daring & spicy Chili Dark Chocolate. The Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate is my current favorite. You can order any flavor in single-serving sticks, get a sweet little “Serving for Two”, which also includes homemade marshmallows to add to your hot coco, or you can go all the way and order a larger variety pack. Their simple, and eco-friendly packaging is beautiful – these little boxes are perfect gifts for chocolate lovers dontcha think?!
