How To Make Your Own DIY Jewelry Display

Jewelry is fun to play around with and always spices up an outfit. The only bad thing about jewelry is that it seems to collect so quickly. I know that I have had drawers full of mixed up jewelry and tangled necklaces, as do many people that collect jewelry and other accessories. Luckily, there is a simple solution: a DIY Jewelry Display. Although it seems like a lot of work, they are pretty simple to make. Here are a couple of simple jewelry displays that may strike your fancy.

The first display is a framed display for your jewelry. All you need for this DIY is a picture frame, chicken wire, mesh or netting, and some glue. First, remove the glass and any backing from the frame. Cut out a square of the chicken wire, mesh, or netting to the size of the frame. Flip the frame and glue the square into the picture frame in place of the backing. Once the glue is dry, you can hang earrings in the small holes in the mesh and hang the frame as you normally would, keeping your earrings sorted and displayed. If you’re feeling especially fancy, you can add small hooks to the bottom of the frame to hang necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

If you don’t like that idea for a display, you can always use driftwood to get an especially rustic jewelry display. This DIY is simple. All you need is some string, some nice driftwood sticks, a small knife, and a nail. First, sand any loose wood or bark off of the branch and use the small knife to slice small notches in the driftwood. Next, create a way to hang the stick with the string by tying one end to one end of the stick, slit into the notch to keep it in place, and the other end to the other end of the stick. Use a nail to hang it up, and you’re all set. You can drape bracelets and necklaces over the branches to display your jewelry. If you have a small enough stick, you can even place rings and bracelets on the driftwood.

The last method is a little more involved, but the end result is beautiful and very customizable. If the previous methods don’t fit well with your room decor, this display is sure to hit the spot. The materials needed for this project are just clay, paint, and some patience. Start finding inspiration. There are plenty of models you could use for this project; that’s the beauty of it. In essence, the model needs to have a bowl or plate-like part that can hold rings and bracelets and a lip with holes in it to hang earrings off of and create more separation. Some great ideas are a mushroom, with a flat top and holes around the lip, or a mandala patterned plate with holes in the lip. Carefully shape your display and bake or finish it according to the clay instructions. Next, paint your display accordingly. If you want, you can finish the organizer with a mod podge to give it a nice shine and ensure that the paint stays intact.

Whichever method you decide to use, you will be more organized than you were before. Try out one or all of these methods to display your beautiful jewelry and make it easier to find the jewelry you’re looking for every morning.
